Vernon, BC Launches Application Site under the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP)
The city of Vernon in British Columbia is the latest community to accept applications through the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP).
As described on the city's RNIP application site, "Vernon is a welcoming city of over 42,000 people located in the beautiful North Okanagan. The city is the hub of the region and boasts a diversified economy that is poised to continue to growth and develop".
In addition to meeting the federal eligibility requirements of the RNIP, candidates interested in receiving a recommendation from the city of Vernon must be selected based on their score on the Vernon’s Comprehensive Ranking System (VCRS). The city's selection committee can recommend up to 10 applicants per month based on those who best fit the community criteria as per their score on the VCRS. Those who are not chosen for recommendation, will be placed back into the candidate pool.
Applications will be considered for recommendation up to three months after the initial application date, after which the application will be declined, although the applicant may choose to re-apply.
Applicants who apply from outside Canada must be available for a 15-30 minute videoconference interview. Those who are currently in Vernon may be required to attend an in-person interview at the discretion of the committee.
