Study on Brazilians in Canada
A study on the profile of Brazilians in Canada was recently published. Focus Portuguese interviewed one of the authors, Universidade Fluminense Professor Eduardo Picanço, over Skype. His research looked at Brazilians in Australia and in Canada, especially at immigrant entrepreneurs. Most Brazilians in Canada are between 20 and 40 years old. There are extremely few children and seniors. 60% are women. About 44% have higher education. 16% are solely on student visas and 25% on student visas with work permits. 23% are on work visas, 11% on tourist visas and 20% on permanent residence permits. Brazilians want to come here for a better quality of life. The language barrier is their biggest difficulty.
