Over 1 million Canadian citizens and permanent residents returned to Canada due to COVID-19
According to data by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), more than one million Canadian citizens and permanent residents returned home last week following government warnings over the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
During March 14-20, 959,600 Canadians and 43,890 permanent residents returned to the country following a call from Global Affairs Canada for Canadians who are still abroad to return home while they still can. Almost half of those returning to Canada arrived by air and most of the others through the land border. Only 1,500 Canadians and permanent residents arrived by water.
